THE ROLE:
The Business Systems Analyst II supports cross-functional collaboration by helping elicit, analyze, and document accurate business needs before solutions are designed. This role develops a strong understanding of the processes that support our products and works with business operations and IT to promote clear communication and alignment. Starting with conceptual information, the analyst helps refine requirements within the broader business context, translates solution components into actionable deliverables, and supports deployment and ongoing operational execution. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, comfortable asking reflective questions, and committed to strengthening Biodesix’s ability to meet business objectives through well-vetted requirements, effective collaboration, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment. 
 
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
 
Business Analysis and Requirements 
  • Support business analysis activities by eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and communicating company, department, business systems, and user needs in collaboration with business stakeholders and IT partners. 
  • Author accurate user requirements, software requirements, and other related artifacts such as process flow diagrams and state transition diagrams. 
  • Identify relevant KPIs and metrics for business processes to measure effectiveness, track improvements, and support data-driven decision-making. 
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication 
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of product offerings and associated processes, while fostering alignment across departments. 
  • Serve as a liaison between business operations and IT, ensuring clear and effective communication. 
  • Prepare and deliver engaging demos and presentations to stakeholders, ensuring complex information is clearly conveyed and understood. 
Project Coordination and Delivery 
  • Support project coordination activities by helping define scope, check timelines, coordinate with resources, and monitor deliverables to support successful completion. 
  • Assist end users with change management, including deployment support and providing training. 
Testing, Traceability, and System Support 
  • Identify end-to-end test scenarios for software releases and create requirements traceability documentation as required. 
  • Support system maintenance by evaluating software and hardware issues and coordinating resolutions. 
  • Continuous Improvement and Best Practices 
  • Stay current with technology and industry trends, provide recommendations for continuous improvement, and pursue supplemental training as needed. 
  • Collaborate with members of the IT team to proactively advance technology initiatives and consistently apply best practices. 
 
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field;  Equivalent may be considered 
  • 2-4 years of hands-on experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst,  Programmer Analyst 
  • Experience working within an Agile or hybrid project environment preferred 
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrable communication skills with technical and non-technical teammates (written and verbal)  
  • Requirements Management – elicit requirements; validate your understanding is complete; resolve conflicting requirements; monitor and track requirements changes and related side-effects. 
  • Analytical – synthesize complex or diverse information; use intuition and experience to refine understanding of business systems and user needs; include appropriate people in decision-making process; willing to provide recommendations and able to explain reasoning behind recommendations. 
  • Problem Solving – identify and address problems in a timely manner; facilitate group problem solving situations; use reason even when dealing with emotional topics; meet challenges with resourcefulness, innovation, and enthusiasm; define alternative solutions. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. 
  • Interpersonal – listen to others without interrupting; exhibit open-mindedness to others’ ideas. 
  • Communication – speak clearly and persuasively in both positive and negative situations; listen and clarify; respond efficiently to questions; demonstrate group presentation skills; participate in meetings; attend to detail in written work; vary communication style as needed for audience and subject matter. 
  • Teamwork – give and welcome feedback; contribute to maintaining a positive team spirit; build morale and support group commitments to goals and objectives; ask for and offer help when needed. 
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Motivated self-starter who is comfortable in an environment that is innovating and changing rapidly; willing to be flexible in project deliverables. 
  • Prior experience with software in a regulated environment  
  • Exposure to lab or medical business environments and any Lab Information Management System (LIMS)  
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL queries  
  • Familiarity with data management and data integrity concepts  
  • Familiarity with issue tracking software (such as Azure DevOps, Jira or Bugzilla)

  • Annual Base Salary Range $83,800 to $98,600
