Job Description

Position Summary:

The Business Systems Analyst gathers business requirements and translates them into functional and technical requirements within appropriate application systems.
The role may serve as a technical liaison between IT enterprise business solutions and the business community.
The position analyzes and configures application systems, improves workflow, and ensures functionality, user acceptance, and effective implementation of changes.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Healthcare Management, or related field.
In lieu of degree, five (5) years of health-related non-clerical experience with an insurance, managed care, healthcare, or technology-related organization may be considered.
Minimum three (3) years of business systems analysis experience with complex system technology; alternatively, an applicable Master's degree with at least one (1) year of experience.
In-depth knowledge of insurance technology systems such as claims, marketing, membership, enrollment, customer service, financial, and provider systems.
Ability to build collaborative relationships, interpret complex documentation, and use query tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform root-cause analysis and audits to verify workflow, identify process improvements, and identify system requirements.
Configure systems using logic statements and develop solutions to problems and new opportunities.
Serve as project lead on small- to medium-scale projects.
Integrate data from multiple sources/functional areas and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Collaborate with internal departments, external customers, and leadership on business requirements.
Conduct training on new procedures, system modifications, and releases.
Assist with project/program design, scope, goals, timelines, and resource requirements.
Prepare reports and analyze information/trends to recommend system changes.
Develop test scripts, execute test plans, and maintain test cases for functionality and UAT.
Develop business solution requirements and technical specification documents.
Serve as a technical resource for research, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of systems.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Recruiter Screening Focus
3+ years of Business Systems Analysis experience with complex technology.
Insurance/healthcare technology experience, especially claims, membership, enrollment, customer service, financial, or provider systems.
Hands-on SQL/query tools experience.
Requirements gathering and translation into functional/technical requirements.
Root-cause analysis, system configuration, testing/UAT, documentation, data analysis, and project leadership.
Strong stakeholder communication and cross-functional collaboration.
