Business Systems Analyst / Scrum Master
Location: Washington, DC (Remote)
Duration: 12 months
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead stakeholder sessions to define objectives, scope, and requirements; translate needs into user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Manage backlog health: prioritize work, manage scope, drive refinement, and ensure stories are actionable for engineering and test teams.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies as Scrum Master, improve team throughput, remove blockers, and coach on Agile best practices.
- Plan and direct day-to-day work execution in partnership with technical leads; ensure developers have sufficient "ready" work.
- Represent the delivery team in cross-functional planning and communicate status, decisions, and tradeoffs.
- Coordinate inputs for ROM estimates and document assumptions, constraints, risks, and dependencies.
- Partner with engineering, architecture, security, and operations to ensure solutions are feasible and aligned with expectations.
- Support release and deployment activities and provide post-release defect triage support.
- Coordinate during critical incidents, track actions, and ensure corrective actions are prioritized.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce delivery risk, and improve quality and performance.
- Promote AI/ML and automation opportunities to enhance analysis and delivery workflow efficiency.
Required Skills:
- 5 years of experience in a similar role supporting technology delivery.
- Strong ability to translate complex needs into high-quality Agile artifacts.
- Proven Scrum Master capability: facilitation, conflict resolution, and continuous improvement.
- Strong systems-thinking and "end-to-end" mindset.
- Technical fluency with modern delivery practices and concepts.
- Practical understanding of AI/ML and its application in IT project management.
- Experience with Agile lifecycle/work management tools and ticketing/ITSM tools.
- Strong communication skills: able to write clearly and lead cross-functional discussions.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with common productivity tools for executive-ready communication and planning.
Preferred Skills:
- Scrum certification and/or scaled Agile experience.
- Experience supporting production releases and incident response in high-availability environments.
- Experience incorporating security, privacy, and performance requirements into delivery artifacts.
