Job Summary

The Michigan Medicine Financial Systems team provides the leadership, oversight, and technical support for the suite of financial products, applications, and datasets used by the Finance Organization of Michigan Medicine for financial reporting, planning, analytics, and decision-making. The team is responsible for delivering on-time enterprise-level reporting and business intelligence systems, managing concurrent high-visibility projects to support new initiatives, guiding data stewardship, and informing and supporting institutional enterprise objectives.

The Financial Systems Production team focuses on administration and end-user support to deliver on-time production systems, ensuring high data quality and exceptional business value to our stakeholders. Responsibilities include all aspects of administering enterprise-level reporting solutions.

The Financial Systems Analyst's primary focus is on the production administration of the solutions the team manages and all underlying data sources and processes to support them. The role is responsible for providing timely, accessible, and accurate data according to the Finance department's defined timelines.

This role is responsible for managing and administering the enterprise-level reporting solutions, integrating cloud-hosted reporting applications, data warehouse and critical organization business processes. This position requires a thorough understanding of accounting and finance principles to deliver financial systems solutions that drive value and decision-making across the institution. This position is responsible for analyzing and translating business, information, and technical requirements into enterprise-level reporting solutions. This role is responsible for researching and maintaining knowledge of current and emerging technologies to solve business problems, particularly with a focus on cloud-hosted solutions. Actively participating in problem-solving and developing integrated solutions within a complex, varied, and evolving technical landscape will be an essential part of this position. This role serves as a liaison between end users, stakeholders, and the solutions architects to propose changes in process, policy, standards, application and end user experience to peers and leadership. In addition, this position will partner with key stakeholders and leadership in requirement gathering and data analysis as well as work with team solutions architects to deliver enterprise reporting solutions.

The Production Financial Systems Analyst must possess strong finance, accounting, and healthcare business practices knowledge. This role will require a strong technical understanding of relational database models, SQL, and multiple Oracle technologies, including Oracle Cloud Analytics and Cloud EPM applications.

Responsibilities*

Monthly Production Validations & Change Management Process 40%

  • Ensure data quality and consistency throughout all production applications:

Finance BI (Oracle Cloud Analytics application used for decision support across Michigan Medicine Finance)

Multiple Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) Cloud Applications.

  • Change Management monthly processing of hierarchies and statistics in all applications.
  • Analyze the request for adherence to our one version of the truth philosophy, as well as the impact on application and technical processes.
  • Partner with the requestor on monthly hierarchy changes. Coordinating with the requester to complete the request documentation
  • Implement changes in the test environment and migrate changes to production.
  • Communicate monthly changes to the requestor, stakeholders, and the Financial Systems team.
  • Tie out various financial systems datasets back to PeopleSoft (source system) and other source systems monthly in Test and Production environments for all applications.
  • Monthly Unit of Service (UOS) static and metrics validations
  • Manage all Test and Production data tie-outs for monthly and annual processing in all applications.
  • Manage all monthly report delivery solutions, including maintaining distribution, automation, and development of enhancements.
  • Report and Query Building for internal and external customers using tools such as Oracle BI Publisher, Oracle Analytics Cloud and Data Visualizer and Narrative Reporting
  • Work with Solutions Architects on monthly and annual tie-out processing and implement new processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of Financial Systems data sets.
  • Collaborate with Vendor technical teams, internal enterprise architecture, and application infrastructure teams to resolve technical issues and understand systems dependencies and compatibility.
  • Function as a back-up for production Financial Systems Analyst teammates to support month-end, quarter-end and annual reporting tasks.

Documentation, Validation, and Governance 40%

  • Prepares and conducts comprehensive testing and validation procedures.
  • Continuously review month-end, quarter-end, and year-end validation processes, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Full integration of new processes into documentation and training
  • Managing the inventory of system documentation and instructions utilizing searchable dynamic solutions
  • Maintaining training and end-user documentation
  • Maintaining and periodically scheduled testing of the full application disaster recovery across all production systems
  • Create and maintain Data Governance documentation, including but not limited to:

Data Dictionaries

Data/Process flow diagrams

Data Model Fact Matrices

Ad Hoc 20%

  • Go to person for ad hoc analysis, end-user requests to understand data flows, data dependencies, and appropriate use and consumption of Finance-presented data.

Items may include, but are not limited to:

Conducting peer and end-user training

Support special projects within Financial Systems as well as Michigan Medicine Finance

Support compliance efforts across the organization.

Assist with other projects as required to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the work.

Helpdesk and end-user support

Coach and mentor junior staff.

Required Qualifications*

BA/BS degree

  • 1+ years of financial systems, data analytics, or financial analysis experience, at the Associate level
  • 1-5 years of financial systems, data analytics, or financial analysis experience, Intermediate level
  • 5-7 years of financial systems, data analytics, or financial analysis experience. Senior level
  • 7+ years of financial systems, data analytics, or financial analysis experience, Lead level
