Job Description

Seeking a highly driven, self-starter to serve as the Business Unit Leader (BUL) in Auburn, Maine. This leadership role is responsible for annual business unit serving general industrial and automotive end markets and a team of 100+ employees. The BUL will have full P&L responsibility across all functional areas of the business.

The BUL will set the strategic vision and direction to meet business objectives, primarily by driving organic growth through Customer-Back Innovation and leveraging the Co Front to Back Framework. The core responsibility involves making strategic decisions and ensuring all business activities are coordinated, effective, and secure through proper oversight. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and an aggressive growth mindset.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:

  • Develops a compelling Strategic Intent Statement and utilizes the LRP to drive Full Potential execution.
  • Leverages an Aggressive Growth Mindset to effectively apply Co’s growth framework.
  • Balances personal and organizational priorities and resources from margin improvement to growth appropriately.
  • Invests to create, build and defend Sustainable Differentiation.
  • Balances the tradeoffs associated with making strategic choices.

Leads High Quality of Practice in the CBI Framework to Drive Full Potential Innovation Yield:

  • Strong CBI focus that is connected with Strategic Intent.
  • Has in place appropriate process/methodology/capabilities to gather key customer/market insights.
  • CBI Process is dynamic, fit for purpose and continuously improved.
  • Innovation Talent and Resources are sufficient to drive full potential performance.
  • Innovation Pipeline Quality and Depth are commensurate with Business opportunity profile.
  • CBI yield is delivering a meaningful contribution to the business’s organic growth rate.

  • Strategic Clarity on Where to Play and How to Win: Growth focus is data driven/well informed with highly actionable CBI and Sales Initiatives resulting from prioritized sub segments.
  • Driving meaningful competitive advantage through achievement of “Co Caliber” performance on key customer facing metrics.
  • Achieving desired outcomes in above market high quality organic growth and resultant operating margin improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree required (Engineering or Business discipline preferred); MBA strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in leading global component manufacturing businesses.
  • Demonstrated experience in cultivating relationships with Automotive and Industrial Motor OEMs.
  • Proven track record of defining and executing business strategy.
  • Experience in leading and implementing Co tools and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with a deep understanding of P&L drivers and key financial metrics.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to lead cross functional teams.
  • Hands on, results driven approach to achieving success.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and the resilience to deal with set-backs.
  • Uses personal influence rather than position power to get things done.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President and General Manager.
