Description
Summary of Position: Clearing tables with urgency after guests have departed. Bussers complete weekly maintenance duties, opening side work, and sets up the restaurant prior to opening. Bussers assist in restocking items and perform many cleaning duties and tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Report to work in a neat and clean uniform with well-groomed hair and acceptable personal hygiene. Consistently report or shifts as scheduled and be on time.
Obtain service area assignment at the beginning of each shift.
Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for next course.
Clear tables after guests. Take tableware to dish room and place silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in appropriate areas for washing.
Between seating's promptly clean table tops, chairs and booths. Check floor and clean as required. Reset and arrange tabletop.
Inspect assigned restroom every 30 minutes and clean as needed.
Respond appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guest requests to server as needed.
Communicate with server and hostess to assure efficient seating, table utilization and customer service.
Assist server as needed with food delivery, especially with large parties and during peak periods.
Thank guests as they are leaving
Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
Complete all assigned side work by the end of your shift, check out with the manager before clocking out.
Other duties may be assigned when not already occupied with the above functions.
Have the ability to obtain and maintain a state/county applicable food handlers card.
Responsible to contribute and participate in our Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
Qualifications:
Ability to recognize order codes and product and comprehend simple instructions.
Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers using units of weight, measurement, and volume.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, or oral, form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in situations.
Speak clearly and persuasively in both positive and negative situations. Listen and get clarification. Respond well to questions. Speak effectively with guests, coworkers and management.
Must have a basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
Be able to safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
