Overview
System One is hiring a Buyer for a contract opportunity with the potential to transition into a full-time position.
Under close supervision, ensures that assigned materials, equipment, and services are obtained at the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) consistent with set standards of quality, delivery, and service. Manages material procurement to support on-time delivery to the customer and optimal inventory levels.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that project procurement requirements are understood and that procured products and services meet lead-time, price, and quality requirements.
- Review and approve purchases up to a specified dollar amount.
- Engage and coordinate with line managers to implement appropriate commodity/supply tasks.
- Participate in supplier relationship activities including selection, rationalization, development, performance measurement, and recognition.
- Perform basic spend analysis and provide input to supply and contract negotiation strategies.
- Input and maintain relevant data in Purchasing information systems.
- Gather and report metrics to assess effectiveness of procurement operations.
- Continue to develop business acumen and customer service skills with colleagues and customers.
Requirements- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred qualifications in ERP - Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.
Skills & Knowledge- Basic knowledge of procurement processes and roles. Knowledge of inventory control, lead times, and demand planning.
- Ability to generate and manage purchase orders, vendor records, and reports.
- Basic communication skills to comprehend, follow direction, and convey detailed data.
- Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to: - Remain in a stationary position, walk, kneel, and crouch.
- Operate a computer on a continual basis and communicate with various levels of the organization.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
