We are seeking a Buyer to join our team!
The Buyer is responsible for purchasing raw/materials/components, communicates effectively with suppliers to ensure the company obtains the best price and product quality, and that materials are delivered on time.
Responsibilities:
- Procures raw materials/components in a timely manner to ensure delivery prior to scheduled production date, with emphasis on meeting target price, quality, quantity, availability, and delivery dates.
- Maintains open communication with suppliers, obtaining and benchmarking prices, managing development of new suppliers and materials.
- Manages supply levels based on immediate demand, forecasted quantities and material lead times.
- Daily enters and issuance of purchase orders to vendors, daily communication with suppliers to manage on time delivery of open orders and works directly with multiple departments.
- Identifies and negotiates contracts, pricing, payment terms, and cost savings opportunities.
- Analyzes departmental purchases requisitions for completeness and accuracy of information.
- Interprets and communicates purchasing procedures and policies to departments, vendors and staff.
- Develops and establishes new sources of raw materials and components to secure the most favorable terms/conditions.
- Establishes blanket purchase agreements with suppliers on items with special requirements and limitations.
- Maintains and updates records on pricing and ordering of materials.
- Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations to increase operational efficiencies.
- Assists in Supplier evaluations as needed.
- Follows and adheres to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), Standard Safety Practices, and all company policies/procedures.
- Completes other projects and duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of work experience in material/component procurement/planning in manufacturing environment, prefers the same industry.
- Communication Skills (Oral/Written) - speaks clearly, concisely and accurately in order to ensure effective department operations, as well as good writing/editing/proofing skills.
- Computer Skills - Intermediate to advanced level in MS Office, experience with ERP systems.
- Planning/Organizational Skills - ability to create and use logic, and systematic process to achieve goals, and exceptional time management to prioritize the workload to ensure delivery against tight deadlines.
- Safety Minded - follows/demonstrates awareness of all safety policies/procedures of self and others.
- Teamwork/Cooperation - ability to work well with others in a group and cooperate with others.
- Values Diversity and Ethics - serves with integrity and respect in interacting with different ethnic backgrounds, cultures, languages and values those differences.
