Job Description

The Role -

Amphenol Aerospace is seeking a Buyer (Direct Materials) to work out its state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY.

The Buyer (Direct Materials) will acquire needed materials and services meeting operational objectives of quality, price, delivery and service.

The key responsibilities of the Buyer (Direct Materials) include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop sourcing strategies to maximize price, delivery and quality.
  • Develop global suppliers with collaboration of Sourcing Engineers.
  • Analyze supplier proposals to determine best source of supply.
  • Review Material Requirements Plan in support of production requirements.
  • Implement and manage consignment, kanban and purchase agreements.
  • Negotiate and implement cost savings to meet operational targets.
  • Continuously evaluate supply base performance and implement improvement counter measures.
  • Collaborate with Planning, Quality, Marketing and Engineering functions.
  • Conduct make v. buy decisions to ensure outsourcing is competitive and adheres to production requirements.
  • Support department Small Business Administration objectives.

  • 30 Minute Drive from Binghamton, NY
  • 20 Minute Drive from Oneonta, NY

Salary: $62, 354 - $80,000

The Person -

The key skills and qualities of a Buyer (Direct Materials) at Amphenol Aerospace:

  • A bachelor's degree in supply chain, business or a technical field
  • Must have full knowledge of MRP
  • Proficiency with using Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Prolonged periods of computer usage and sitting
  • At least 10% of time requires both domestic and international travel to supplier locations
  • Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Must comply with all Purchasing Procedures and Policies
