Essential Duties/Responsibilities: - Assists with purchasing activities through negotiation, planning and scheduling to ensure purchasing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Acts as a liaison when evaluating suppliers based on cost, quality, service, availability, reliability, and selection variety.
- Organizes, updates, and retains product information files and purchase order records to ensure accuracy and up to date information regarding vendors.
- Applies sound judgment and discretion in decision-making and utilizes problem solving techniques to identify and resolve purchasing issues.
- Comprehends written and verbal instructions and translates them into actionable tasks in support of the production process
- Analyzes and assesses reports and quotes and identifies trends or issues that require action.
- Ensures materials purchased are obtained in a timely manner to enable the maximization of production human capital.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Process requisitions and updates management on status of orders.
- Is competent in the use of software systems and applications, maximizes use and potential for improving quality and efficiency.
- Motivated with highly developed organizational skills. Uses time effectively, with excellent attention to detail and with minimal supervision.
- Effectively communicates and provides feedback to a variety of audiences on purchasing related issues in a timely and effective manner for quick resolution.
- All other tasks as assigned by manager.
Qualifications & Requirements - A minimum of three to four years of purchasing experience in a facility performing simple assembly or mechanical processing system in a non-union environment preferred.
- Has demonstrated positive results within a purchasing program, an excellent understanding of purchasing standards and work measurements needed to assist in facilitating a successful purchasing program.
- Has demonstrated competences in understanding purchasing processes and has experience within a continuous improvement environment
- Has demonstrated effective problem-solving skills.
- Well-developed communication skills in written and verbal formats
- Knowledge of purchasing and the ability to identify problems within the purchasing process.
- Knowledge of basic software applications, Microsoft Office, ERP applications, good basic keyboarding skills.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of mathematics and English language skills associated with communicating with management, co-workers, outside vendors and customers and interpreting various reports.
