Purchase materials, supplies and services, negotiate pricing, delivery schedules and quality levels, and insures timely delivery of materials while minimizing inventory investment.

  • Purchase raw materials from approved vendors.
  • Negotiate pricing and delivery terms. Schedule orders to qualify for quantity discounting when possible.
  • Assure that materials are delivered in a timely manner, scheduling deliveries to maintain low inventory levels.
  • Create and maintain item purchasing information in MRP.
  • Create stocking plans for consumable items as well as MRP managed items.
  • Perform cycle counts, physical stock counts, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve billing, invoicing and shipping discrepancies.
  • Source, obtain quotes and recommend materials and vendors.
  • Meet with vendors on a regular basis to assure updated knowledge of market and competitive pricing.
  • Review and approve artwork for new projects and revisions for current projects.
  • Ensure that proper documentation is obtained for each shipment.
  • Participate in bi-annual inventory as assigned.
  • Support Quality Policy, Quality System, and follow established procedures. Propose changes to existing procedures through supervisor, understanding that changes cannot be implemented prior to formal approval in the Quality System.
  • Follow safety rules to protect yourself, co-workers, equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Individuals may sit or stand as needed. Position may require walking and/or climbing stairs periodically throughout the day, reaching above shoulder heights; below the waist, or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. May include lifting up to 25 pounds (files, boxes, etc.) on occasion. Proper lifting techniques are required.

Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and fully enclosed shoes (no open toe or heel) are required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1+ year's related experience required
