DirectPath Recruiting Services is partnering with a leading electronics manufacturer in Huntsville, Alabama, to identify a Buyer who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a purchasing professional with experience in manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, or materials management who enjoys building supplier relationships, managing inventory, and ensuring on-time delivery of critical materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Procure raw materials, electronic components, supplies, and production equipment to support manufacturing operations.
• Review and process purchase requisitions while issuing purchase orders in a timely manner.
• Source new suppliers and obtain competitive pricing, lead times, and product availability.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and purchasing agreements within established authority levels.
• Review and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring pricing, quantities, and part numbers are accurate.
• Track supplier performance related to quality, cost, and delivery while maintaining purchasing records.
• Partner with Quality, Production, Engineering, and suppliers to resolve material issues and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted production while minimizing excess inventory.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing and supply chain process.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with 3-5 years of purchasing or materials experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience purchasing manufacturing materials, components, or production supplies.
• Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems is highly preferred.
• Ability to read and understand Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
• Willingness to travel occasionally as business needs require.

Preferred Experience

• Electronics manufacturing experience.
• Purchasing electronic components and production materials.
• Supplier relationship management.
• Inventory planning and materials management.
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement exposure.
