Job Title: Buyer I
Location: Holland, MI
Duration: 6 Months
Timings: 8am - 5pm or 7am - 4pm
Summary:
- Responsible for procuring and monitoring the movement of materials to meet production needs.
- Obtain materials using engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels.
- Ensure material standards are met and resolve non-conformances or variances.
- Monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.
Responsibilities:
- Manage procurement activities and supplier relationships.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts.
- Monitor inventory levels and support demand planning.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and conduct cost analysis.
- Resolve supplier performance and delivery issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, planning, logistics, and finance.
- Analyze purchasing data and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in developing annual sourcing goals and implement steps to achieve them.
- Set up and manage internal and external Kanban programs.
- Create and manage supplier VMI contracts.
- Facilitate supplier meetings regarding quality issues.
- Conduct indirect/purchase requisition ordering.
- Assist in researching and communicating ECO cost impacts.
- Perform Oracle New Part Set-up and Maintenance.
- Conduct Kaizen/continuous events and implement procurement department-related improvement processes.
- Participate in monthly department safety audits.
- Assist in reconciling Receiving, Incoming Inspection, or Accounts Payable issues.
- Assist in running reports for Supplier Scorecards and issue Corrective Action Plans.
- Participate in internal employee committees to assist with sourcing best venues, material costs, and services.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and inventory-related activities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, International Business, or a related field.
- Strong sense of urgency, accountability, organization, and proactive communication.
