JOB SUMMARY
The position performs intermediate-level procurement functions in support of municipal operations. This position is responsible for acquiring goods and services in compliance with state law, city ordinances, and established purchasing policies. The Buyer II exercises independent judgment in procurement activities, supports competitive solicitation processes, and provides guidance to departments under the Purchasing Manager's direction.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; five years of state or local government purchasing experience with three years in-house inventory control experience required.
Special Requirements:
Experience in governmental purchasing, and ability to obtain the Texas Certified Contract Developer License through the State Controller's office within one-year. Microsoft experience in Word, Excel is required. 24/7 on-call availability every other week is required. Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license or higher is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary and requires the ability to exertup to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: fingering, handling, hearing, mental acuity, repetitive motions, speaking, talking and visual acuity.
