A skilled, professional position that performs purchasing activities in support of plant operations, ensuring cost-effective sourcing of raw materials and finished goods to meet demand and quality standards, overseeing procurement activities with a focus on strategic and tactical procurement of raw material. Position requires a bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Business, or similar discipline and a minimum of five years of purchasing experience, with at least three years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of supply chain processes, cost analysis, and inventory management preferred. Demonstrates strong negotiation, commercial knowledge, communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day execution and verification of purchase orders with raw material suppliers, ensuring accuracy and alignment with production schedules.
- Proactively engage with suppliers to address expedite requests, providing clear and timely updates to internal stakeholders.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, conduct vendor assessments, and manage relationships with existing suppliers.
- Track and communicate key metrics to supply base.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to forecast material needs, set optimal inventory levels, and coordinate timely procurement aligned with production demands.
- Monitor and analyze material costs, track purchasing trends, and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Develop and implement freight strategies for raw materials in collaboration with internal teams.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical practices in all procurement activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
