Job Title: Buyer II
Location: Kent, WA
Type: Contract / On-site
Compensation: $70 per hour

System One is seeking a Buyer to support a leading aerospace client in Kent, WA. This role is responsible for managing supplier relationships, procurement activities, and strategic sourcing initiatives supporting the development and production of advanced spaceflight systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in procurement, supplier management, contract negotiations, and supply chain operations within a fast-paced manufacturing or aerospace environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct suppliers and internal stakeholders supporting the external development of spaceflight systems.
• Ensure program requirements are appropriately prioritized and executed to support business objectives.
• Prepare and issue Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and Requests for Quote (RFQs), perform price analyses, and develop negotiation strategies.
• Negotiate and manage various contract types, including long-term procurement agreements and strategic sourcing partnerships.
• Own the procurement lifecycle from requisition creation through invoice payment resolution.
• Lead the identification, negotiation, implementation, and management of Long-Term Agreements (LTAs).
• Support procurement strategies and contribute to organizational supply chain objectives.
• Ensure production materials are delivered on time, within budget, and meet technical requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements in cost, quality, and delivery.
• Establish and track procurement metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and program teams to resolve procurement and supplier issues.
• Review engineering specifications, source control drawings, and technical documentation to support sourcing decisions.

Requirements

• Experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, or supplier management.
• Experience negotiating and managing multiple contract types, including Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Time & Material (T&M), and Cost-Type contracts (CPFF, CPIF).
• Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience tracking program metrics.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively in ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Working knowledge of AS9100 standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications and source control drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior aerospace or space industry experience.
• Experience with avionics or fluid system components.
• Knowledge of ITAR/EAR regulations.
• CPSM, CSCP, or PMP certification.
• Experience using Deltek Costpoint, Jira, SharePoint, or similar ERP and procurement systems.
