Buyer II / Procurement Specialist
Location: Stockton, CA
Pay: $40 - $50 DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Day Shift
Type: Full-Time | 4–6 Month Project

Job Summary
The Buyer II is responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw materials, packaging components, equipment, parts, and production supplies while ensuring inventory levels support manufacturing schedules. This position works closely with suppliers and internal departments to maintain material availability, control costs, and ensure on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
  • Source and purchase raw materials, packaging, equipment, and production supplies.
  • Review MRP recommendations and generate purchase orders based on production requirements.
  • Expedite purchase orders to meet production schedules and customer demand.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supply agreements with vendors.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while driving cost savings and service improvements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust purchasing plans as production schedules change.
  • Coordinate with Production, Planning, Inventory Control, Shipping & Receiving, Quality, Finance, and IT to support manufacturing operations.
  • Resolve supplier issues involving shortages, quality concerns, documentation, and delivery delays.
  • Review purchase orders for accuracy and ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Research new suppliers, materials, and pricing opportunities.
  • Maintain purchasing records, BOM updates, specification documents, SDSs, Certificates of Analysis, and other procurement documentation.

Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of purchasing, procurement, planning, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Previous experience in cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing industries is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing, inventory management, MRP, and supply planning.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or similar manufacturing software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing practices is a plus.
