• Hands-on operational Buyer who can independently convert requisitions into accurate purchase orders for materials and services
• Comfortable running RFQs, performing pricing and total cost comparisons, and using existing strategic agreements
• Strong supplier communication skills, including order confirmation, delivery tracking, expediting, and issue resolution
• Proven ability to manage procure-to-pay activities end to end, including invoice discrepancies and blanket/outline agreements
• Experience supporting power plants or industrial environments, including outage and project-based procurement
• Highly proficient with ERP systems (SAP or similar) and Excel; ability to create clear operational reports (Power BI is a plus)
• Able to work 100% onsite, manage a high volume of requests, and prioritize work independently in a fast-paced environment

Job Description

Travel: 20–30% (to other local facilities)

The Buyer is responsible for independently executing operational procurement activities that support power generation facilities. This role processes purchase requests for materials and services, identifies sources of supply, leverages strategic agreements, conducts RFQs and pricing analysis, selects suppliers, and issues and manages purchase orders and blanket or outline agreements.

The Buyer works closely with plant stakeholders, suppliers, and the Strategic Sourcing team to ensure timely delivery, compliance with procurement policies, and continuous improvement of procure-to-pay processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert approved purchase requisitions into accurate purchase orders using qualified suppliers and competitive pricing
• Identify and evaluate suppliers; run RFQs and perform pricing and total cost comparisons in line with procurement policies
• Communicate with suppliers throughout the procurement process, including order acknowledgements, lead times, delivery status, and issue resolution
• Coordinate with the Strategic Sourcing team to align with existing agreements and support competitive sourcing initiatives
• Partner with internal stakeholders to clarify specifications, delivery needs, outage or project timelines, and invoice expectations
• Ensure suppliers meet site safety and compliance requirements
• Register and onboard new suppliers as needed
• Support delivery confirmations, supplier follow-ups, and invoice issue resolution
• Maintain and update blanket and outline agreements, pricing, and documentation
• Ensure compliance with procurement processes, controls, and audit requirements
• Provide insights on recurring demand and spend trends to support enterprise sourcing strategies
• Support outage planning and project-based procurement by tracking milestones, communicating status, and escalating risks

Working Conditions

• Primarily onsite at a power plant and in an office environment
• Occasional overtime during outages and special projects
• Travel required (20–30%) to nearby facilities

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5+ years of operational procurement or buying experience
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365, especially Excel
• Ability to analyze data and present information clearly

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field
• 5–7 years of procurement experience in power generation, energy, or industrial environments
• Experience working with SAP or similar ERP systems
• Supply chain or procurement certification (e.g., ISM/CPSM)
