Position Summary:

 

The Buyer oversees and enhances the purchasing function for the company, ensuring materials and commodity fluctuation are taken into consideration for client projects and orders.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversees the purchasing function based on current backlog and standard serial business with emphasis on material planning to fit the company's current business model of strategy andgrowth.
  • Provides leadership with purchasing function and engages with vendors and potential vendors to deliver highest quality materials or services in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Monitors the performance of vendors regarding quoting, acknowledgement process, on-time delivery, and quality of deliverables and services. Maintains a database to evaluate all KPI's.
  • Establishes blanket orders where applicable to achieve cost effective management of high volume materials
  • Fully understands commodity market to forecast trends and plan effective procurement of materials.
  • Communicates lead time, material issues, and options for improvement effectively to other levels and departments of management.
  • Maintains all inventory controls via cycle counts and ERP/MRP system.
  • Collaborates with Quality area to investigate and resolve supplier/material issues.
  • Maintains goals with integrity and adherence to all Company core goals and standards.
  • Performs additional projects as assigned by VP of Operations.

 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with focus on supply chain management
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in Supply Chain Management in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of markets, commodities and materials involved in fabrication of ASME Pressure Vessels
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, MRP/ERP System (JobBoss) and additional documentation software
  • Strong communication skills to successfully interact with vendors, customers, direct reports, and other departments.
  • Ability to effectively enhance the business model through continuous improvement and strategic processes
  • Ability to work effectively with others, motivate employees and enhance change management
  • Maintains highest ethical and credibility standards
