    Job Overview:

This Buyer / Material Planner role is responsible for coordinating and leading the procurement of production-critical materials that keep the Ocala plant running. You will manage supplier follow-up, monitor MRP signals, track purchase orders, resolve delivery risks, and ensure materials are available when manufacturing needs them. This is not just placing orders-it is strategic material execution in a fast-moving manufacturing environment where your ability to build supplier relationships, analyze data, prioritize action, and expedite critical items directly impacts production flow and customer delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career purchasing professional who is ready to grow while bringing fresh, technology-focused thinking to an experienced team. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience in purchasing, procurement, materials planning, or a related field and demonstrated exposure to AI-enabled tools. You should be able to explain how you have applied AI in practical situations, such as improving spreadsheets, automating calculations, streamlining data collection and analysis, supporting presentations, or enhancing professional business communications.

Deep AI expertise is not required. We are looking for someone who is curious, adaptable, comfortable using emerging technology, and motivated to develop within the purchasing function. If you like being the person who keeps production from missing a beat-and finding smarter ways to get the work done-this role is for you.

    Responsibilities:

    • Reviews and processes automated MRP requisitions to secure high-volume production parts and maintain material availability.
    • Partners with domestic and global suppliers to confirm specifications, capacity, pricing, delivery schedules, and stocking requirements.
    • Selects production materials and components by validating engineering requirements, evaluating total cost, and determining the appropriate procurement method, including direct purchases, blanket agreements, and competitive bids.
    • Prepares and manages high-value purchase orders, scheduling agreements, bid requests, and supplier proposals within SAP, established budgets, and delegated authority.
    • Maintains accurate procurement records and SAP master data, including purchase costs, variances, delivery performance, quality, inventory health, lead times, safety stock, minimum order quantities, and reorder points.
    • Partners with Quality, Engineering, and Inspection teams to investigate defective or unacceptable materials, determine root causes, and implement supplier corrective actions.
    • Coordinates with production planners to schedule material flow, expedite critical shortages, and prevent production disruptions or downtime.
    • Approves material invoices for payment and resolves complex pricing, quantity, and purchase-order discrepancies.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years' relevant materials buying experience; in lieu of a degree 5+ years of progressive materials purchasing expertise is needed
    • 2+ years of MRP/ERP experience navigating transactions, extracting reports, performing inquiries, creating purchase orders, and maintaining oversight of material movement and status.
    • 2+ years of Excel experience to include data manipulation, comparing reports, crunching numbers, and ideally performing XLOOKUP to move/compare data between spreadsheets
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and build productive vendor relationships.
