About the Role:

Under limited supervision, researches, develops, negotiates and manages contractual obligations for supplies and services by staff members across all LifeBridge Health facilities. Completes analytical work in conjunction with the contract analyst, to support purchasing decisions and evaluate vendor performance. Identifies and facilitates implementation of opportunities for cost savings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares, reviews and process requisitions and/or computer-generated orders for assigned commodities, equipment and services under departmental guidelines.
  • Processes all requisitions for purchase orders that working day.
  • Places all orders within twenty-four (24) hours, unless request is held up for quotation, price verification, or other problem solving.
  • Notifies requestor of any complications with processing their order that business day.
  • Informs customer of purchase order status; ETA, backorder, or substitutions being applied.
  • Notifies Senior Buyer or Purchasing Manager of concerns that cannot be resolved at Buyer level.
  • Reviews purchase order history and accounts payable to ensure best pricing possible for medical supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Accesses current internet based Group Purchasing Organization's (Premier) database (E-Sourcing) to review item cost and or payment.
  • Reviews signed, locally negotiated contract files, for line item pricing or payments.
  • Confers with Contract Analyst or Purchasing Manager when reviewing MedAssets (Prime) contracts for item price or payments paid.
  • Monitors rebate schedules and verifies accuracy with department management.
  • Acts as liaison between the Purchasing department and the customer.
  • Refers unresolvable concerns immediately to the Senior Buyer or the Purchasing Manager.
  • Coordinates meetings with vendors to evaluate new product development and discuss various vendor services.
  • Coordinates product recalls by determining shipping schedules, product replacement, reimbursement, etc.
  • Prepares monthly reports on Hospital purchasing volumes for assigned commodities.
  • Evaluates market conditions and trends, and applies creative problem solving techniques to identify cost savings opportunities consistent with Hospital goals.

REQUIREMENTS;

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience: One to three years of purchasing/buyer experience.

Salary $50 to $61K, dependent on experience and internal equity.
