
Buyer/Planner (Pharma/Medical Device Manufacturing)
Location: San Carlos, CA 94070 (Onsite – Local Candidates Only)
Pay Rate: $55–$65/hr + Weekly Pay + Benefits
Duration: 6-12 month Temp to Turn permanent
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday 9am-5pm
About the Role
Our client is a biotech/life sciences company building a highly advanced protein-analysis platform. Their technology helps researchers look at proteins in much greater detail, which can support drug discovery, disease research, and precision medicine.
They are s seeking an experienced Buyer/Planner to support its growing reagent manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for purchasing, material planning, inventory management, receiving, and ERP data maintenance to ensure uninterrupted material availability for production. The ideal candidate has experience supporting biotechnology, life sciences, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or medical device manufacturing and understands how procurement, planning, inventory, and manufacturing work together. This position requires someone who is highly organized, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Plan and manage inventory levels to support manufacturing schedules and customer demand.
· Utilize NetSuite MRP to generate purchasing and replenishment recommendations.
· Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, reagents, chemicals, consumables, and packaging components.
· Monitor supplier performance, open purchase orders, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure material availability.
· Maintain supplier pricing, purchasing parameters, and lead times within NetSuite.
· Receive, inspect, and process incoming materials while verifying shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and Certificates of Analysis (CoA).
· Coordinate incoming inspections and material releases with Quality and Manufacturing teams.
· Manage temperature-sensitive shipments, including ambient, refrigerated, frozen, and dry ice materials.
· Maintain accurate inventory records and item master data within NetSuite.
· Update units of measure, lead times, supplier information, storage requirements, and material attributes.
· Ensure data integrity across purchasing, planning, inventory, and manufacturing modules.
· Generate purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance reports.
· Support cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
· Participate in internal and external audits while ensuring compliance with quality standards.
· Identify process improvement opportunities and implement scalable purchasing and inventory solutions.
· Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Finance, and suppliers to ensure uninterrupted production.
Required Qualifications
· 3+ years of experience in Purchasing , Buyer/Planner, Material Planning, Supply chain, inventory control and planning or similar within manufacturing
· Experience supporting manufacturing operations within: Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Diagnostics, Medical Device manufacturing or Pharmaceutical
· Hands-on ERP experience (NetSuite strongly preferred) or similar.
· Strong understanding of: Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
· Purchasing , Inventory Planning, Supplier Management, Inventory Control
· Experience managing lot-controlled and expiration-controlled inventory.
· Experience working with raw materials, laboratory supplies, chemicals, reagents, or manufacturing components.
· Strong knowledge of inventory control methodologies, including cycle counting and ABC inventory analysis.
· Experience with GMP, ISO, FDA-regulated, or quality-managed manufacturing environments.
· Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
· Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications
· NetSuite ERP experience.
· APICS/CPIM certification.
· Experience supporting reagent manufacturing.
· Experience supporting supplier performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
