Job Summary

The Buyer/Sourcing Analyst is responsible for purchasing quality materials, services, and equipment while supporting engineering, maintenance, and operational requirements. This role provides analytical and research support to the Sourcing Team, including market analysis, supplier analysis, spend analysis, benchmarking, and cost modeling. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment focused on efficiency, reliability, and teamwork.

 

Job Description

  • Purchase materials, services, and equipment at the best value while maintaining quality and specification requirements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to support Engineering, Maintenance, and Operational schedules.
  • Issue purchase orders and releases against Service Agreements, monitor order status, and stay informed of market conditions.
  • Review requisitions for completeness and proper approval.
  • Coordinate document flow to ensure proper handling by Accounts Payable and Receiving.
  • Expedite and track orders to ensure required delivery dates are met.
  • Process invoices and forward them to Accounts Payable.
  • Identify sourcing opportunities through analysis of business and industry data.
  • Support the Sourcing Specialist and Senior Sourcing Specialist with strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier relationship management.
  • Apply standard sourcing methodologies to achieve value-driven solutions, including:
    • Analyzing spend and industry data.
    • Evaluating suppliers based on cost, quality, and performance metrics.
    • Conducting cost and pricing analysis through benchmarking and cost modeling.
    • Monitoring market conditions, pricing trends, and supplier developments.

 

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, preferably within the energy, process, chemical, or related industries.
  • Experience with Oracle Financials and purchase order management software is preferred.
  • Demonstrated client service experience with a strong focus on meeting customer needs and expectations.
  • Experience in supplier and contractor management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
  • Proactive, persistent, and solution-oriented.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential; previous leadership experience is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other computer-based tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, service providers, and internal stakeholders.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, or Sourcing is preferred.
