Position Overview

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Buyer to support purchasing activities for electronic components, production materials, and supplier coordination. This role will be responsible for managing purchase orders from creation through delivery, communicating with suppliers, tracking material availability, resolving purchasing issues, and supporting production schedules.

The ideal candidate will have experience purchasing electronic components within a manufacturing environment and be comfortable managing supplier relationships, expediting orders, and partnering with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production teams to ensure materials are available when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Purchase electronic components, parts, and materials based on production requirements, engineering specifications, and inventory needs
• Create, issue, and manage purchase orders from placement through delivery confirmation
• Track supplier commitments, monitor lead times, and follow up on open orders to ensure on-time delivery
• Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, delivery schedules, and order updates
• Resolve purchasing discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, shipments, and delivery dates
• Review supplier quotes and assist with vendor selection and purchasing decisions
• Partner with Engineering and Supply Chain teams regarding part requirements, approved manufacturers, and alternate components
• Support production schedules by identifying potential material shortages and expediting critical orders
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and update ERP/MRP systems with order information
• Assist with inventory planning efforts to help prevent shortages and excess inventory
• Support sourcing activities for long-lead-time and allocation-constrained electronic components
• Follow company purchasing procedures and quality requirements

Required Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, procurement, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
• Experience purchasing electronic components, parts, or production materials
• Experience managing purchase orders from creation through delivery
• Strong supplier communication and follow-up skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, Epicor, Oracle, or similar platforms
• Ability to read and interpret basic Bills of Materials (BOMs) and component specifications/datasheets

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in electronics manufacturing, aerospace, defense, medical device, or contract manufacturing environments
• Experience supporting Engineering and Production teams with material sourcing needs
• Experience managing supplier delays, shortages, and long-lead-time materials
• Familiarity with formal quality systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar
