Job Summary

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing goods, materials or services needed by the organization to operate and produce quality products in a timely manner. The Buyer is also responsible for evaluating suppliers, negotiating price and contracts, while ensuring inventory arrives on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Review raw material planning reports for assigned supply categories and determine if orders need to be placed or existing orders adjusted for supplies.
• Make necessary adjustments to systems to gain appropriate approvals and send them off to suppliers.
• Monitor inventory levels and make adjustments as necessary in order to make sure we have the right amount of inventory on hand, or in order, to meet production needs.
• Resolve invoicing issues.
• Partner with Research and Development with the sourcing of new supplies and/or new ingredients as needed.
• Review inventory positions and production plans of assigned categories.
• Make recommendations to the suppliers concerning order placement and/or order adjustments.
• Provide forecasts to the suppliers weekly.
• Provide documents/information to the quality department.
• Actively participate in the commercialization process.
• Other duties as assigned.
