Job Summary
The Buyer is responsible for ensuring production has the necessary supplies needed to complete production schedules in a timely manner. The Buyer is also responsible for maintaining partnerships with suppliers and negotiating contracts with those suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Review raw material planning reports for assigned supply categories and determine if orders need to be placed or existing orders adjusted for supplies.
- Make necessary adjustments to systems to gain appropriate approvals and send them off to suppliers.
- Monitor inventory levels and make adjustments as necessary in order to make sure we have the right amount of inventory on hand, or in order, to meet production needs.
- Resolve invoicing issues.
- Partner with Research and Development with the sourcing of new supplies and/or new ingredients as needed.
- Review inventory positions and production plans of assigned categories.
- Make recommendations to the suppliers concerning order placement and/or order adjustments.
- Provide forecasts to the suppliers weekly.
- Provide documents/information to the quality department.
- Actively participate in the commercialization process.
- Other duties as assigned.
