BVA/PVA Special Education Teacher JobID: 4566 Position Type: Brandywine Virtual Academy/Special Education InstructorDate Posted: 9/11/2026Location: ESC Closing Date: 09/25/2026 Additional Information: Show/HideAt the present time, a vacancy exists for a Special Education Teacher within the Brandywine Virtual Academy division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit for the 2026-2027 school year with Philadelphia Virtual Academy. This position will be located in person at the Educational Service Center in Downingtown, PA and offers the potential for 2 days a week work from home. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in education requiredValid PA Special Education Certificate (N-12) requiredExperience teaching math or ELA preferredExperience with Elementary students preferredExperience working with special education students preferredExperience with online/virtual teaching environments preferredKnowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles preferredFamiliarity with National Standards for Quality (NSQ) Online Teaching and Learning preferredProficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and digital education tools requiredDemonstrated ability to adapt curriculum for online delivery requiredCurrent police, child abuse & FBI fingerprint clearances requiredClearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire)Duties & Responsibilities:Instruct individuals and groups in special education skill and subject areasPlan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methodsEvaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behaviorSupport objectives and interventions of the educational programMaintain safe virtual environment of the classroomMaintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progressWhen appropriate, develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of studentsPrepare report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as requiredFunction as integral member of treatment/IEP team, addressing needs of studentsDesign and deliver engaging virtual instruction that adheres to NSQ Online Teaching standardsImplement UDL principles to create accessible online learning experiences for all studentsCustomize digital learning environments to meet individual student needs as outlined in IEPsEffectively navigate and utilize various digital platforms, tools, and resources to enhance student learningMonitor and assess student engagement and progress in virtual learning environmentsTroubleshoot basic technical issues and provide appropriate support to students in the online settingCollaborate with colleagues to develop and share best practices for online special educationMaintain current knowledge of emerging technologies and pedagogical approaches in virtual educationCreate and maintain a positive, inclusive online classroom community that promotes student successSchedule: 5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day. 194 days per year for new professional employees/191 days for professional staff in year two/190 days in all subsequent years.Salary 2026-2027 School Year:$59,796 to $87,342 - E/I (Emergency Certification)$62,155 to $89,730 - Instructional I Certification$64,834 to $93,324 - Instructional II Certification$69,353 to $101,911 - Master's Degree$72,740 to $105,924 - Master's + 15 Credits$74,415 to $107,845- Master's + 30 CreditsAAEqual Opportunity EmployerChester County Intermediate Unit is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
