Program Details
Part-time: $16.00/ hour Monday-Thursday, 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm 12 Week Program Classroom Setting Evening classes with a requirement to travel to neighboring training facilities (less than 50 miles.)
Participants will:
Connect with local union-sponsored apprenticeship programs
Learn from construction professionals.
Be taught the nationally recognized Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3)
Earn industry recognized credentials
Prepare for union-apprenticeship entrance exams and interviews
Access free financial, legal, and career counseling
Required Skills/Abilities:
18 years or older
City of Syracuse Resident
Understand and follow directions in English
Authorized to work in the United States (proof required at acceptance)
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiar with hand and power tools.
Basic knowledge of building and construction or interest/motivation to learn.
Ability to adapt as assignments change.
Perform basic arithmetic.
Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is not a requirement to enter the Pathways program, but both will be needed to successfully work in construction. Support and services will be available during the program to assist with both, depending on circumstances.
High School diploma or equivalent (proof required within 30 days of acceptance)
Be able to pass a drug test (administered when applying to union-sponsored registered apprenticeship program).

Physical Requirements:
Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 49 pounds and push and/or pull up to 49-pound loads at a time.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 0 and 49 pounds.
