Job Summary:
ProCraft Cabinetry Chicago is seeking an experienced Cabinetry CNC Programmer & Machinist to join our team. This role requires proficiency in Mozaik software and automated machinery to design, program, and cut precision wood, plywood, and laminate parts for custom cabinetry. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of kitchen and bath cabinetry to accurately meet project specifications, perform machine setup, operation, and quality control, and work self-sufficiently in a team environment. In this position, you will drive efficient production processes, maintain safety standards, and collaborate with team members across various machines to meet production schedules.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Read and interpret architectural drawings, interior design plans, cabinet shop drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications for custom frameless cabinet manufacturing.
  • Use Mozaik Cabinet Software to review cabinet designs, generate CNC files, prepare production files, and optimize machining processes.
  • Program, set up, and operate 3-axis CNC routers using G-code and M-code for cutting, routing, drilling, boring, and other cabinet-component machining operations.
  • Configure CNC machine settings, tooling, work coordinates, feed rates, spindle speeds, cutting depths, and toolpaths to achieve required tolerances and production specifications.
  • Operate and support CNC routers, panel saws, edgebanders, drill presses, mills, lathes, grinders, EDM equipment, and other automated woodworking machinery as required.
  • Perform machine setup, calibration, tool changes, router-bit and blade maintenance, first-piece verification, and routine troubleshooting to maintain production efficiency.
  • Manufacture precision components from plywood, MDF, melamine, laminate, solid wood, and composite materials while minimizing material waste.
  • Perform repetitive, short-cycle production operations including cutting, drilling, machining, edge banding, laminating, and related cabinet manufacturing processes.
  • Inspect first-piece, in-process, and finished components for dimensions, machining accuracy, drilling patterns, edge quality, hardware placement, and compliance with approved specifications.
  • Identify defective or damaged components, perform or coordinate remakes and rework, and maintain accurate production and rework records.
  • Plan and coordinate daily production priorities based on customer deadlines, material availability, machine capacity, staffing, and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor orders through cutting, CNC machining, drilling, edge banding, assembly, quality control, packaging, and shipping, communicating potential delays or production issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with engineering, design, sales, purchasing, warehouse, customer service, production, and shipping teams to resolve technical issues and maintain efficient workflow.
  • Verify materials, hardware, finishes, tooling, and production documentation before manufacturing and communicate shortages, discrepancies, or design issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor material usage and production waste and support nesting, material optimization, and process improvements to reduce waste and production costs.
  • Support quality-control procedures and identify root causes of machining errors, remakes, defects, and production delays, implementing or recommending corrective actions.
  • Monitor the condition and performance of CNC machines and related equipment; perform routine maintenance and coordinate repairs and preventive-maintenance activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate production, maintenance, quality, and rework records and communicate production status, capacity concerns, and equipment issues to management.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to production employees on CNC operation, machine setup, production procedures, quality standards, and safety practices, as assigned.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient manufacturing environment in accordance with company policies and PPE requirements.
  • Support continuous-improvement initiatives involving CNC programming, tooling, workflow, machine utilization, material efficiency, production quality, and labor productivity.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of accuracy, productivity, quality, safety, and attention to detail.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Qualifications:
  • 3–5 years of CNC machining/programming experience, preferably in woodworking, cabinetry, millwork, furniture, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using Mozaik Cabinet Software (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with CNC setup, programming, tooling, troubleshooting, and production machining.
  • Experience reading and interpreting architectural drawings, cabinet shop drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of G-code and M-code.
  • Experience in custom or frameless cabinetry (strongly preferred).
  • Ability to prioritize production orders and coordinate workflow based on deadlines, materials, machine capacity, and staffing.
  • Experience providing technical guidance or training to other production employees (preferred).
  • Ability to identify production bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across design, engineering, sales, purchasing, production, warehouse, and shipping teams.

Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certificate, diploma, or Associate degree in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, CAD/CAM, woodworking technology, industrial technology, or a related field preferred.

Compensation:
$72,000 to $80,000 annually. Depending on experience, technical expertise, leadership ability, and qualifications.

Schedule: Monday- Friday. 8-hour shift. 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
