JOB SUMMARY

Assembles complex cable harnesses, subassemblies, and electronic components by interpreting blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards. Performs crimping, soldering, fiber optic termination, testing, inspection, and troubleshooting while ensuring compliance with quality system, safety, and customer requirements. Works independently on standard and moderately complex builds, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and escalates complex issues as needed in a quality-driven manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.

  • Reads and interprets work orders, routers, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings to determine assembly procedures and requirements.
  • Routes, wraps, laces, ties, and secures wires and cables per drawings and customer specifications.
  • Performs crimping, soldering, staking, torquing, press-fitting, bonding, and related mechanical and electrical assembly operations.
  • Attaches ends of wires to components, plugs, or terminal strip.
  • Tests wiring continuity with continuity tester.
  • Uses cable testing equipment to troubleshoot problems.
  • Marks and labels completed assemblies in accordance with work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Installs backshells, strain reliefs, shielding, heat shrink, braiding, and over-molding components as required.
  • Works safely with small tools such as knives, cutters, screwdrivers, wrenches, and wire strippers.
  • Complies with all applicable elements of the TREK Quality Management System.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives and process improvement activities.
  • Independently assembles cable harnesses and subassemblies to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Performs intermediate soldering including through-hole and terminal soldering in accordance with workmanship standards.
  • Assists with root cause identification for assembly or test failures.
  • Performs inspection processes according to documented process criteria.
  • Performs minor equipment maintenance and identifies equipment issues requiring escalation.
  • Capable of potting assemblies using a mold and insulating compound.
  • Attaches & tests fiber optic terminal connectors.
  • Mounts assembled components (transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, ICs, sockets) on chassis panels.
  • Installs finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
