    JOB TITLE:

    Cable Assembly Drafter

    DEPARTMENT:

    Manufacturing Engineering

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Cable Assembly Drafter is responsible for preparing layouts, assembly and detail drawings for fiber optic cable assemblies; working closely with component engineering.

    Prepares layouts, assembly, and detail drawings for fiber optic cable assemblies based on inputs from Sales/customerUpdate drawings per customer's request (As-built and Engineering change notices)Develop detailed section views for connector/component assy's and cable transitions.Analyzes various design requirements and recommends possible solutions or alternate constructionsVerify that cable assembly parts are setup in company ERP systemRoute and ensure drawings are signed off and submitted for final releaseEnsure cable assembly cycle times are met or improvedProvide assembly instructions for connector/component assy's and cable transitions.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Ability to read (write and speak in English) and interpret assembly drawings/specifications from internal and external sources.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blue prints.Proficient in AutoCAD/Visio, Solidworks (preferred) or equivalent 3D modeling software.Proficient in MS Office SuitePossess good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environmentLiaison with engineering/sales/manufacturing personnelAble to move from design concept to finished design, including layouts and tolerance valuations and detail drawings.Ability to learn and execute established procedures and programsComplete all applicable reports and required project documentationAble to follow established procedures to complete required cable assembly designsU.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to satisfy AFSI ITAR requirements

    Required Education and Experience:

    One to two years' college or trade school education in engineering drawing/CAD designMinimum five (5) years' on-the-job experience.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for formal training.U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to satisfy AFSI ITAR requirements
