Description:Are you an experienced Cable Designer with expertise in electrical interconnects, cable harnesses, and system-level wiring? We're seeking a skilled professional to support cutting-edge engineering programs developing advanced technologies for aerospace, defense, and national security applications.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary engineering team working on next-generation prototype systems, including laser communications, optical sensors, radar systems, advanced electronics, and other mission-critical technologies.
What You'll DoAs a Cable Designer, you'll be responsible for designing and documenting complex electrical interconnect systems that support advanced prototype development from concept through fabrication and integration.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and document cable and harness assemblies from engineering sketches, concepts, and technical requirements
- Create block diagrams, electrical schematics, cable drawings, wire diagrams, wire run lists, and fabrication documentation
- Perform design calculations to support cable routing and electrical interconnect designs
- Develop cable layouts, connector selections, and wiring configurations
- Prepare engineering release packages and revision documentation
- Support fabrication, assembly, and system integration activities
- Maintain cable configuration management throughout the product lifecycle
- Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers on complex engineering programs
- Produce high-quality technical documentation while meeting project schedules
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or an Associate degree plus relevant experience, or Trade School education with significant electrical interconnect design experience
- 5+ years of cable design or electrical interconnect design experience
- Strong experience designing cable and harness assemblies
- Experience producing:
- Electrical schematics
- Cable drawings
- Wire diagrams
- Wire run lists
- Fabrication documentation
- Experience performing basic electrical design calculations
- Knowledge of:
- Connector selection
- Wire sizing and wire types
- Voltage drop considerations
- Electro-mechanical packaging
- Electrical fabrication and assembly techniques
- Thorough understanding of cable fabrication standards and processes
- Experience with configuration management for cable designs
- Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with SolidWorks Electrical
- Experience with Zuken
- Familiarity with Military, ASME, and IEEE standards
- Experience supporting prototype, aerospace, defense, or advanced engineering programs
