PGS Worldwide is seeking a Cable Inspector in Oldsmar, FL for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Cable Inspector will support aerospace and defense electronics manufacturing by inspecting cable assemblies, identifying nonconformances, and helping resolve quality issues. This role requires prior cable inspection experience, IPC-A-620 soldering knowledge, and experience inspecting soldered and crimped cable assemblies in a production environment.

Required Skills

  • Prior inspection experience.
  • Strong background in cable manufacturing and cable inspection.
  • IPC-A-620 soldering experience.
  • Experience inspecting soldered and crimped cable assemblies using IPC-A-620 standards.
  • Ability to inspect cables using predetermined methods, operations, and specifications.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as dial indicators, preset micrometers, and scales.
  • Ability to accept, reject, or support rework of defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, diagrams, customer specifications, inspection instructions, and work instructions.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, diagrams, parts lists, IPC manuals, revision control documents, reference documents, and work instructions.
  • Ability to monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Willingness and ability to perform assembly tasks related to assigned inspection areas as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to interface professionally with assemblers, test technicians, engineers, customers, and management when resolving quality issues.
  • Proficient with personal computers and newer applications.
  • No degree required.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to take and pass a required medical screening exam.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cable assembly inspection, cable manufacturing, IPC-A-620 inspection, solder inspection, crimp inspection, quality inspection, nonconformance identification, rework support, drawing interpretation, revision control, inspection documentation, and aerospace electronics manufacturing.

What You’ll Do

  • Inspect cable assemblies using established methods, operations, and specifications.
  • Inspect soldered and crimped cable assemblies to IPC-A-620 standards.
  • Use measuring devices including dial indicators, preset micrometers, and scales.
  • Review blueprints, diagrams, customer specifications, inspection instructions, IPC manuals, and work instructions.
  • Identify cable defects, nonconformances, and quality issues.
  • Accept, reject, or support rework of defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Communicate with assemblers, engineers, test technicians, customers, and management to resolve quality issues.
  • Perform assembly tasks related to assigned inspection areas as needed.
  • Support production quality, documentation accuracy, and continuous improvement in cable manufacturing.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • 2nd shift.
  • Monday–Thursday.
  • 3:30 PM–2:00 AM EST.
  • Weekend overtime as needed.
