PGS Worldwide is seeking a Cable Inspector in Oldsmar, FL for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Cable Inspector will inspect cable products, verify quality against drawings and IPC-A-620 standards, identify nonconformances, and support resolution of cable manufacturing quality issues. This role requires prior cable inspection experience, soldered and crimp inspection experience, blueprint and wire harness print reading skills, basic computer skills, and strong attention to detail.
Required Skills
- Prior inspection experience.
- Strong background in cable manufacturing and cable inspection.
- Experience with soldered and crimp inspection on cables using IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
- Visual inspection experience.
- Blueprint reading experience.
- Wire harness print reading experience.
- Ability to interpret drawings, diagrams, parts lists, IPC manuals, revision control documents, reference documents, and work instructions.
- Basic computer skills and personal computer proficiency.
- Ability to use measuring devices such as dial indicators, preset micrometers, and scales.
- Ability to accept, reject, or rework defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with assemblers, test technicians, engineers, customers, and management.
- Ability and willingness to perform assembly tasks related to assigned inspection areas as needed.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to pass required medical screening.
- No degree required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience inspecting cable assemblies in an aerospace, defense, electronics, or high-reliability manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with quality control procedures, statistical process controls, nonconformance documentation, or rework processes.
- Experience supporting production teams in a cable, wire harness, or electronics manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do
- Inspect cables using predetermined methods, operations, specifications, and work instructions.
- Review cable assemblies against drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, and inspection instructions.
- Inspect soldered and crimped cable connections using IPC-A-620 standards.
- Use measuring devices such as dial indicators, preset micrometers, and scales.
- Identify nonconformances and determine whether units should be accepted, rejected, or reworked.
- Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process controls or other control procedures.
- Communicate with assemblers, test technicians, engineers, customers, and management to resolve quality issues.
- Perform related assembly tasks in assigned inspection areas as needed.
- Support accurate documentation and quality compliance for cable products.
Work Schedule / Shift
- 1st shift.
- Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM.
- Overtime opportunities on weekends.
