Description
TCI has an immediate need for a Cabling Technician in in the Louisville, KY. This is a short-term (3 month) contract opportunity.
SUMMARY
The Low Voltage Cabling Tech is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing data and telecommunication cabling systems within buildings/factory, including pulling cables, terminating connections, testing signal quality, and troubleshooting issues with network infrastructure, often working in both new construction and existing facilities; requiring strong technical knowledge of various cable types, industry standards, and proper installation practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Cable installation: Pulling, routing, and securing various types of cables like Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic cables within walls, ceilings, and under floors according to blueprints and specifications.
Cable termination: Crimping and terminating cable ends onto connectors using specialized tools to ensure proper signal transmission.
Patch panel management: Labeling and organizing cables on patch panels within data centers or communication rooms.
Testing and troubleshooting: Utilizing cable testing equipment to identify faults, signal degradation, and connectivity issues, and taking corrective actions.
Installation of cable support structures: Mounting cable trays, ladder racks, and other hardware to properly route and secure cables.
Documentation and reporting: Maintaining detailed records of cable runs, labeling, and system configurations.
REQUIREMENTS
1-2 years as a Cable Installer (Ladder, Scissor and Boom Lift User)
CAT 5/6 installation experience
RJ45 and Mod Installer
Rack and Mount Installer
Technical knowledge: Thorough understanding of network cabling standards different cable types (copper, fiber optic), and proper termination techniques.
Hand tools proficiency: Ability to use cable cutters, strippers, crimpers, punch down tools, and other specialized cabling equipment.
Physical ability: Comfortable working in tight spaces, climbing ladders, lifting heavy equipment, and performing repetitive tasks.
Possess a Valid Driver’s License and have reliable Transportation.
Have your own basic hand tools.
Possess own PPE (Steel Toed Boots, Safety Vest, Safety Glasses, Gloves, and Hard Hat).
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS (Nice to have)
Camera, Access Control and Sensors Installer.
Wisenet (Hanwha) and Command (Verkada) System Installer.
Fluke Tester and COPs.
