About the Role

Picture your day beginning on a clean, well-equipped shop floor. You review a new set of drawings, translate them into precise toolpaths in Mastercam or GibbsCAM, run a simulation to validate every move, and then fine-tune speeds, feeds, and strategies to squeeze out quality and efficiency. You huddle with engineering, production, and quality to align on fixtures and inspection points, then document every detail so the team can run confidently. That’s a typical rhythm for our experienced CNC programmer—part problem-solver, part process architect.

What You’ll Do

  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to define machining requirements.
  • Create CNC programs in CAD/CAM (Mastercam, GibbsCAM) for milling, turning, and related operations.
  • Optimize toolpaths for accuracy, finish, and cycle time—selecting tools and dialing in speeds/feeds and cutting strategies.
  • Run simulations, verify toolpaths, and resolve issues before release to production.
  • Partner with engineering, production, and quality to improve processes and address technical challenges.
  • Debug CNC code, tooling, and equipment to boost machine performance and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain clear documentation: CNC programs, setup sheets, tool lists, and process instructions.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior programmers and machinists as needed.
  • Stay current on CNC technologies, CAM updates, and best practices.
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure proper machine operation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of CNC programming experience in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in G-code, M-code, and CAD/CAM (Mastercam, GibbsCAM, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of machining processes, tooling, materials, and multi-axis operations.
  • Strong blueprint and specification interpretation skills.
  • Proven troubleshooting ability to elevate efficiency and machining quality.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Clear communicator and collaborative teammate.
  • Experience with complex geometries and multi-axis machining is a plus.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Preferred: one-year technical certificate, two- to four-year apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
  • We consider combinations of education and hands-on CNC programming experience.
