Role name: CAD / Data Model & BOM Separation SME
Work Location: Remote (US)

Role Overview:
Solid Edge CAD Expert (Rework, Configuration & Demonstration Specialist)
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Solid Edge CAD Expert with deep expertise in CAD rework, design methodology improvement, and configurable product modeling. This role requires the ability to analyze existing CAD data, propose correct modeling strategies, and execute hands-on rework, demonstrating the improved solutions to stakeholders.
The role emphasizes doing CAD the right way, using Variables Table, Expressions, and Family of Assemblies, with alignment toward 150% design principles and downstream integration into TeaCliententer (TC 2512) for product configuration and BOM management.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze existing CAD data to identify inefficiencies, incorrect modeling practices, and structural issues.
• Define and implement rework strategies aligned with Solid Edge best practices.
• Perform hands-on rework of real CAD data and demonstrate improvements through structured “show & tell” sessions.
• Build scalable designs using:
o Variables Table & equation-driven modeling
o Inter-part relationships
o Proper use of Synchronous vs Ordered modeling
• Develop Family of Parts / Family of Assemblies for configurable designs.
• Support 150% design approach enabling multiple product variants within a single structure.
• Ensure CAD models are optimized for downstream consumption in TeaCliententer.
• Create and enforce CAD standards and modeling guidelines.
• Collaborate with engineering and PLM teams to align CAD structure with BOM strategy.

TeaCliententer & PLM (Desirable Skills)
• Understanding of TeaCliententer (preferably TC 2512 or similar versions).
• Awareness of CAD-to-PLM integration workflows (Solid Edge ↔ TeaCliententer).
• Familiarity with:
o 150% EBOM (Engineering BOM) structures
o 150% DBOM (Design BOM) concepts
o Transformation to 100% EBOM for execution/manufacturing
• Exposure to TeaCliententer Product Configurator:
o Variant configuration logic
o Option and rule-based configuration
• Understanding how CAD design intent (variables, families) maps to:
o BOM structures
o Configurable product definitions in PLM
• Knowledge of:
o Structure Manager
o Revision and release processes
o Change management (ECR/ECO)
• Ability to ensure CAD models are:
o PLM-ready
o Properly structured for configuration and reuse

Note: TeaCliententer experience is highly desirable but not mandatory; strong CAD methodology expertise remains the primary requirement.
Hands-On & Demonstration Capability (Critical Requirement)
• Ability to take existing flawed CAD data and rework it practically.
• Translate theoretical best practices into real, working CAD solutions.
• Conduct interactive sessions with teams:
o Show current issues
o Apply rework solutions
o Demonstrate improvements (flexibility, scalability, configuration readiness)
• Act as a mentor and change agent to elevate team capability.
• Strong ability in technical storytelling and live problem-solving.

Core Expertise Required
• 5 years of strong hands-on experience in Solid Edge CAD.
• Deep knowledge of:
o Variables Table & parametric design
o Family of Assemblies
o Top-down design methodology
o Design intent-driven modeling
• Proven experience in:
o CAD rework and optimization
o Converting legacy data into clean, reusable structures
• Ability to distinguish between:
o Quick/temporary modeling
o Robust engineering-grade modeling

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in configurable product environments (high variability).
• Exposure to PLM-driven design processes.
• Knowledge of automation, rules-based design, or CAD customization.
• Experience defining CAD governance and standards.

Key Competencies
• Strong diagnostic capability for CAD issues and restructuring
• Ability to connect CAD → BOM → PLM → configuration
• Excellent communication and demonstration skills
• High attention to design quality and scalability
• Influencing mindset to drive CAD best practice adoption

What Success Looks Like
• CAD models are:
o Variable-driven
o Configuration-ready
o Fully aligned with PLM/BOM strategy
• Smooth transition from:
o 150% DBOM / EBOM → 100% EBOM
• Effective use of:
o Family of Assemblies TeaCliententer configuration
• Teams adopt correct modeling practices through demonstration-led learning
• Significant reduction in rework and downstream BOM issues

Key Differentiators of This Role
• Focus on CAD rework and correction, not just design
• Strong use of Variables Table & Family of Assemblies
• Alignment with 150% design and PLM configuration strategy
• Hands-on “show & tell” leadership approach
• Integration mindset toward TeaCliententer (TC 2512)
