Position Summary
The CAD Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks. This role supports product development and manufacturing by producing accurate design outputs while also contributing to technical documentation such as installation instructions and specification sheets.
The ideal candidate has strong CAD design capabilities and can clearly translate design intent into both drawings and user-facing documentation.
Key Responsibilities
CAD Design & Modeling
- Create and modify 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and bill of materials (BOMs)
- Ensure designs meet engineering standards, manufacturability, and quality requirements
- Support design revisions, updates, and product improvements
Documentation Support
- Assist in the development of installation instructions, specification sheets, and product documentation
- Generate visual content such as exploded views and assembly sequences
- Ensure documentation aligns with current design revisions and engineering intent
Collaboration & Execution
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Technical Support teams
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into models and drawings
- Maintain organized file structures, version control, and documentation updates
- Manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience with SolidWorks (3D modeling and drawings)
- Proven ability to create detailed engineering drawings and assemblies
- Understanding of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to interpret and translate engineering requirements into CAD models
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SolidWorks Composer or similar tools for technical documentation
- Exposure to product documentation (installation guides, manuals, spec sheets)
- Familiarity with revision control and engineering change processes
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or product-based environments
