This role focuses on creating detailed AutoCAD drawings and production-ready plans for precast concrete components used in civil infrastructure projects, including manholes, vaults, and stormwater systems. You will support the full design and production process in a manufacturing and construction environment, working closely with engineering, production, and field teams to deliver accurate shop drawings and fabrication details for real-world applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed AutoCAD drawings for precast concrete products such as manholes, catch basins, utility vaults, box culverts, and stormwater systems.
• Interpret civil engineering plans, specifications, and project documents to produce accurate and constructible drawings.
• Create shop drawings and fabrication details for use in production and field installation.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and production teams to verify dimensions, details, and design intent.
• Incorporate redlines, revisions, and client or agency feedback into drawings in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prepare complete submittal packages for review and approval by stakeholders and agencies.
• Support drafting updates based on field conditions and as-built requirements to ensure records remain accurate.
• Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with applicable industry and project requirements.
• Manage multiple drafting projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and quality.

Essential Skills

• 2-5+ years of experience using AutoCAD to produce civil, structural, or construction-related drawings.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD for creating detailed design, shop, and production drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and project documents.
• Experience with civil design, civil CAD, and CAD design for infrastructure or construction projects.
• Background in construction drafting, including shop drawings, fabrication drawings, or production drafting.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all drafting work.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with precast concrete, utilities, or underground infrastructure.
• Familiarity with underground utilities and related design requirements.
• Familiarity with stormwater systems, drainage layouts, or utility layouts.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards such as NPCA, DOT, or similar guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in civil, structural, or construction drafting.
• Exposure to Civil 3D or structural drafting concepts.
• Experience preparing submittal packages for review and approval.
• Experience collaborating with engineering, production, and field teams.
• Interest in hands-on, real-world applications of design in a manufacturing and construction environment.

Work Environment

This is an onsite role based in a manufacturing facility in Simi Valley, supporting active infrastructure and construction projects. You will work in a collaborative environment alongside engineering, production, and field teams, contributing to a fast-paced setting where projects move quickly from design to fabrication and installation. The work involves extensive use of AutoCAD and related CAD tools to produce detailed shop and production drawings for precast concrete components and underground utilities. The environment emphasizes teamwork, clear communication, and adherence to established drawing standards and industry requirements.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Simi Valley, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
