THE ROLE
The CAD & Vehicle Packaging Engineer is responsible for developing high‑quality 3D models, defining vehicle hardpoints, and ensuring seamless integration of components and systems across the entire vehicle architecture. This role combines detailed CAD design with full‑vehicle packaging ownership, supporting both early‑phase concept development and detailed engineering.
AREA OF RESPONSABILITIES
3D CAD Modelling - Create and maintain robust 3D models and assemblies for vehicle systems.
Vehicle Architecture Development - Define spatial layouts for powertrain, chassis, interior, electrical, and thermal systems.
Hardpoint Definition - Establish and manage the master hardpoint database for the vehicle.
Occupant Packaging - Ensure ergonomic comfort, visibility, ingress/egress, and compliance with human‑factors requirements.
Regulatory Compliance - Apply global standards (FMVSS, ECE, GTR) to packaging and design decisions.
DMU & Virtual Builds - Lead digital mock‑up reviews to validate clearances, interfaces, and serviceability.
Cross‑Functional Integration - Resolve packaging conflicts across body, chassis, powertrain, interior, and electrical teams.
Benchmarking - Analyse competitor vehicles to inform architecture and design decisions.
Change Management - Manage CAD updates, version control, and release workflows in PLM systems.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6
Experience with vehicle packaging, ergonomics, and system integration
Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering standards, and manufacturing processes
Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcenter, 3DX)
Ability to translate engineering requirements into robust CAD and packaging solutions
Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in EV packaging (battery, e‑drive, HV systems, thermal management)
Background in body engineering and integration
Experience with CAE collaboration, DFMEA, or tolerance analysis
Exposure to design automation or parametric modelling
