Lane Construction is one of America's leading construction companies, specializing in large, complex civil infrastructure. For 135 years, it has contributed to the development of the country's transportation systems including the Interstate Highway System and a vast network of roads, bridges, airports, metros, and railways. Lane specializes in mobility, tunneling, and water resources to address sustainable development and climate change adaptation challenges.

Position Summary

The CADD Technician will support the technical, engineering, construction, survey, and document control teams on the ALCOSAN Ohio River Tunnel Project. This position is responsible for preparing, updating, and maintaining project drawings, sketches, layouts, redlines, as-built information, and technical exhibits related to tunnels, shafts, adits, near surface facilities, utilities, temporary works, support of excavation, instrumentation layouts, and permanent structures.

The role requires strong drafting accuracy, good field coordination, and disciplined document control. This is not a "sit in a corner and draw lines" position; the CADD Technician must work closely with engineers, surveyors, superintendents, subcontractors, and field staff to make sure the drawings reflect what is actually being built.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and revise CAD drawings, construction sketches, technical exhibits, coordination drawings, and field layouts based on contract drawings, shop drawings, RFIs, field changes, survey information, and engineer instructions.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of shop drawings, temporary works drawings, utility drawings, SOE layouts, geotechnical instrumentation layouts, traffic/site logistics plans, and as-built drawings.
  • Maintain current project drawing files, including revisions issued by addenda, RFIs, field changes, approved submittals, and construction updates.
  • Assist with the preparation of record drawings and as-built documentation, including field redlines, dimensions, elevations, coordinates, equipment locations, utilities, and underground features.
  • Coordinate with the project survey team and licensed surveyor to incorporate verified horizontal coordinates and vertical elevations into drawings.
  • Support e-Builder document workflows by preparing drawing attachments, exhibits, markup files, and technical support documents for submittals, RFIs, change management, and project correspondence.
  • Review drawings for consistency, title blocks, sheet numbering, references, scales, north arrows, legends, dimensions, and compliance with project CAD standards.
  • Assist field engineers and superintendents with quick-turn sketches and clarification drawings needed for construction execution.
  • Maintain organized CAD files, PDFs, redlines, background drawings, survey files, and drawing logs.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical degree, associate degree, or equivalent experience in drafting, civil engineering technology, construction technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of CADD drafting experience, preferably on heavy civil, underground, water/wastewater, tunnel, shaft, utility, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD; MicroStation and Civil 3D experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand civil, structural, utility, geotechnical, electrical, instrumentation, and construction drawings.
  • Experience supporting as-built / record drawing preparation.
  • Good understanding of coordinates, elevations, stationing, profiles, sections, and field redlines.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous work on tunnel, shaft, SOE, deep excavation, sewer, water treatment, or large civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with e-Builder or similar project management/document control platforms.
  • Familiarity with GIS, Bluebeam, Revit/Navisworks, survey data files, and 3D coordination is a plus.

Lane Construction offers a comprehensive benefits package with an excellent opportunity to grow and be part of one of the most respected names in the construction industry. Lane is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
