Job Purpose

The Cafe Cook & Cashier supports daily food and beverage operations by preparing menu items, providing excellent guest service, and handling transactions efficiently. This role ensures a clean, organized, and welcoming cafe environment while maintaining high standards of food quality and service.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests and take food and beverage orders with a friendly, service-oriented approach
  • Prepare and cook menu items (e.g., breakfast items, sandwiches, grill items, snacks) in accordance with recipes and quality standards
  • Assemble, plate, and serve food in a timely and visually appealing manner
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process orders, handle cash, and complete transactions accurately
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, prep areas, counters, and dining spaces
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines
  • Monitor food inventory levels and restock supplies as needed
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries in compliance with safety standards
  • Support opening and closing procedures, including setup, breakdown, and cleaning
  • Address guest questions or concerns promptly and professionally
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and efficient service flow
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food service, kitchen, or hospitality preferred
  • Basic cooking or food preparation experience strongly preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic math skills and comfort handling payments and cash
  • Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and safety standards
  • Reliable, team-oriented, and detail-focused

Working Conditions

  • Schedules vary based on business needs and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Requires standing for extended periods, frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 30 lbs
  • Exposure to kitchen equipment, heat, and typical food service environment conditions
