Description
POSITION: Cafeteria Worker
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To serve students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness.
REPORTS TO: Director of Food Services in all aspects relative to Food Services and the Building Principal in all aspects of the building.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the preparation and serving of food in a quick and pleasant manner
Serve students and staff from the cafeteria counter
Assume responsibility for seeing that during meal service periods, the supply of food offered is replenished regularly
Remove used dishes and assist in the cleaning of counters, tables, and furnishings in the dining area
Assist in daily cleanup of the kitchen and service areas
Perform major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals as designated by the Cafeteria Manager
Assume responsibility for storage and disposal of unused foods
Perform related dues as required including duties at special meal functions
Assume the responsibility for the collection of fees charged the students and staff for meals served
Perform such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent or their designee
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend documents such as memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to work outside in any and all weather conditions
Ability to perform physical work efficiently, while standing, twisting, kneeling, bending, crouching, sitting, reaching or balancing
Ability to climb a ladder up to 20ft. high and be able to complete tasks above head level
Knowledge and ability to operate power tools, hand tools as well as commercial cleaning equipment safely without supervision
Ability to lift, carry and maneuver objects up to 75lbs independently, and ability to push and pull objects in excess of 100 lbs assisted
Ability to do basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
Knowledge or ability to gain learn about safety procedures for storage, usage, handling, and disposal of potentially hazardous waste and cleaning materials

Annual Work Schedule: 185 Days

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with collective bargaining agreement evaluation protocols.
