The Calibration Technician is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, traceability, and timely calibration of measurement tools and equipment used across the manufacturing environment. This role will coordinate external calibration services, maintain internal calibration standards (e.g., gage blocks and scales), and verify that shop floor tools meet company and industry requirements aligned with AS9100D Clause 7.1.5.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Attention to Detail: Ability to detect wear, damage, or drift in measurement tools.
Organizational Skills: Capable of managing calibration schedules, tracking certificates, and maintaining calibration recall logs.
Communication: Clear communication with external calibration vendors, quality engineers, and production personnel.
Problem Solving: Able to identify and quarantine out-of-tolerance tools and work with stakeholders on corrective actions.
Documentation & Recordkeeping: Accurate documentation of calibration status, equipment history, and vendor certificates.
Time Management: Ability to prioritize and schedule calibrations to minimize production disruptions.
Tooling Inventory Management: Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records of measurement tools and calibration equipment.
Tooling Audits: Conducts periodic audits of shop tools to verify presence, condition, and calibration status.
Preventive Maintenance Oversight: Coordinates with departments to schedule preventive maintenance of critical tools where applicable.
Vendor Liaison: Maintains relationships with calibration vendors to ensure timely service, cost control, and certificate accuracy.
Compliance Monitoring: Monitors calibration program against internal standards and AS9100D requirements to ensure continuous readiness for audits.
