Job Title: Calibration Specialist – Process Instrumentation
Location: North Chicago, IL
Hire Type: 12+ Month Contract

Must-Have Skills:
  • Minimum 2 years of metrology/calibration experience
  • Experience calibrating process instrumentation, including pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensors, pH probes, and conductivity probes
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance (PMs), troubleshooting, and repairing process instrumentation and equipment
  • Experience working in GMP/pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
  • Practical knowledge of metrology and measurement practices
  • Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 17025 and ANSI/Z540-1

Job Summary:
The Calibration Specialist performs calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of process instrumentation and equipment used in a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role ensures measurement accuracy by identifying sources of error, determining measurement uncertainty, maintaining calibration documentation, and supporting manufacturing operations while collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, suppliers, and third-party contractors.

Job Duties:
  • Perform calibration of process instrumentation, including pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensors, pH probes, and conductivity probes
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) on instrumentation and process equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair process instrumentation, process equipment, and autoclaves
  • Quantify sources of measurement error and determine measurement uncertainty using TURs
  • Prepare calibration reports documenting methods, measurement data, uncertainties, TURs, and NIST traceability
  • Maintain accurate calibration and maintenance documentation to support GMP compliance
  • Communicate with customers and internal teams to resolve technical questions and calibration concerns
  • Assist with measurement practices and NIST traceability inquiries
  • Read and interpret technical schematics, specifications, and calibration procedures
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, suppliers, and third-party contractors
  • Support manufacturing operations, regulatory compliance, and additional technical responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Military PMEL or other technical education preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of metrology, calibration, or instrumentation experience
  • Experience maintaining and repairing autoclaves is required
  • Experience supporting GMP/pharmaceutical manufacturing operations preferred
  • Practical knowledge of metrology principles and measurement practices
  • Familiarity with ISO 17025, ANSI/Z540-1, or similar quality systems
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced pharmaceutical manufacturing or plant environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a growing organization
