Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced California Employment Litigation Attorney for an estimated six-month contract assignment. This position will focus primarily on employment defense litigation involving wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, and related employment claims.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of recent California employment litigation experience and be comfortable stepping into an active litigation practice with minimal ramp-up time. Candidates must currently reside in California and be actively licensed to practice law in California.

The attorney is expected to work approximately 35-40 hours per week. The anticipated start date is January 2027, although an earlier start may be considered for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

• Handle California employment defense litigation matters.
• Work on matters involving wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, and related employment claims.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct legal research and analysis involving California employment law and litigation issues.
• Assist with written discovery, document review, and case development.
• Support depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation as needed.
• Analyze case issues and assist with developing litigation strategy.
• Manage assignments, deadlines, and case responsibilities independently.
• Collaborate with attorneys and other members of the legal team throughout the litigation process.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Active California Bar license required.
• Must currently reside in California.
• Minimum of 5 years of California employment litigation experience required.
• California employment litigation experience must be recent and substantive.
• Employment defense litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Experience handling matters involving wrongful termination, discrimination, and sexual harassment.
• Strong litigation, legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation documents.
• Ability to independently manage assignments and deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
• Availability to work approximately 35-40 hours per week.
• Ability to commit to an estimated six-month assignment.
• Anticipated availability for a January 2027 start, with the possibility of an earlier start for the right candidate.
