About the Position

This is a state position in the Hattiesburg Call Center. Job Duties include but are not limited to: take unemployment claims, identify eligibility issues, audit work research activity, provide customers information on unemployment claims, online support and perform other unemployment insurance eligibility related duties as assigned by management. Will investigate claims for proper payment, unreported earnings, and current work status. Contact employers and claimants to obtain requested wage information for prompt and accurate determination and eligibility decisions. Will assist customers with improper payment recovery, overpayment inquires, and other related issues. Will carry out various support functions related to Integrity and Benefit Payment control processes. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends if needed. Applicants who have an outstanding unemployment insurance overpayment due to fraud are not eligible to be hired. All candidates are required to have a Valid Drivers license and pass an extensive background check.

What youll need to be Successful

Ability to interpret and apply MDES laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Effective verbal and written communication. Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others. Ability to effectively adapt to changing work duties and processes. Attention to detail, good time management, and proficient computer skills. Fluency in English and Spanish preferred.

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 0-2 years of experience OR an Associates Degree and 2-3 years of experience.
