Job Summary

Join our team as a CAM Programmer in the Bay Area, a vibrant hub for technology and innovation. We are seeking a skilled professional to generate CAM programs from SolidWorks designs and ensure the seamless production of parts. This role involves program verification, documentation, and team training, all while collaborating closely with our production and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Program parts in SolidWorks CAM, generating complete CAM programs from existing designs using our reliable post-processors, machine definitions, tool libraries, and templates.
  • Output machine-ready G-code for the Haas GM-1 (3-axis gantry mill), expecting multiple G-code files per part depending on the number of sides milled.
  • Produce a comprehensive documentation package per part, including setup sheets, tool lists, and work holding instructions. These documents will be stored in Notion and integrated into a Manufacturing Process Plan for work orders, with CAM files and G-code attached to the part number in Arena.
  • Prove out programs at the machine by first-article testing each program on the Haas GM-1, troubleshooting in real-time alongside operators and technicians.
  • Train our team by delivering formal, documented training to production technicians and other CAM programmers, covering program operation, setup adjustments, troubleshooting, and SolidWorks CAM fundamentals.
  • Coordinate with the team, reporting to the Program Manager and working daily with the Production Tech and Manufacturing Engineer. Programs must be approved for production release by the Tech, Responsible Engineers, and NPI.

Key Qualifications

  • 5 years of hands-on CAM programming experience in a production machining environment.
  • Expertise in SolidWorks CAM, with no flexibility for training on the software.
  • Hands-on CNC machining experience, including the ability to run and troubleshoot code at the machine alongside operators.
  • Fluency with the Haas control and experience programming for 3-axis (gantry) mills.
  • Experience in formally training production technicians or other programmers.
  • Strong documentation skills, with setup sheets, tool lists, and work holding instructions suitable for any technician.
  • Located within a commutable distance of the Bay Area or willing to be onsite at Dado as needed.

Additional Qualifications Desired

  • Direct experience programming the Haas GM-1.
  • Experience machining graphite, ceramic, refractory, or other high-temperature/unusual materials.
  • Experience in early-stage hard-tech or startup manufacturing environments where the CAM environment is still being formalized.
  • Familiarity with Arena PLM and shop-floor MES systems (Manufacturo or equivalent).
