    Job Description

Are You the Engineer Who Turns Models Into Reality?

If you love translating CAD models into precise NC code and proving out first articles that become life-changing medical devices, read on.

    Your Impact

    • Own CNC programming for milling, turning, and grinding—including multi-spindle, multi-axis, and Swiss-style equipment—supporting multiple sites.
    • Analyze drawings and 3D models to define cut paths, choose tooling, and determine speeds/feeds in line with customer specs, shop standards, and machine limits.
    • Drive DFM and process development with cross-functional teams, internally and externally.
    • Continuously improve: remove program errors, adopt new tooling and methods, and standardize legacy programs to current best practices to hit delivery dates.
    • Collaborate with Quality Engineering to build Process Control Plans, Manufacturing Inspection Plans, and define gaging/fixturing needs.
    • Perform machine setups for first-article and short-run NPI parts; occasionally support small production runs.
    • Design fixtures to streamline post-processing.
    • Adhere to the TOMZ Quality Management System and assist wherever needed.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed

    • Associate degree in a technical/scientific field or equivalent experience.
    • At least 5 years programming CNCs and performing setups in medical device manufacturing (or similar regulated precision manufacturing).
    • Strong command of NC code, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
    • CAD/CAM proficiency; SolidWorks and Esprit are preferred.
    • Fluent in blueprint reading and GD&T.
    • Excellent communication skills with internal stakeholders and external partners.
    • Analytical mindset with the logic and reasoning needed to solve complex problems.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs; team or mechanical assistance required beyond 50 lbs.
    • Exposure to oil, grease, noise, cleaning solvents, dust, metal particles, sparks, coolant, and sharp edges; PPE (safety glasses, dust masks, ear plugs, cut-resistant or chemical-resistant gloves) and engineering controls may be required.
    • Regular keyboard entry with potential frequent computer use.
