Are you an experienced aquatics professional who loves working outdoors and mentoring youth? Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson is seeking a passionate and safety-focused Summer Camp Aquatics Program Director to oversee all waterfront and pool operations at Camp Addisone Boyce.

This is more than a seasonal role—it’s an opportunity to shape unforgettable camper experiences, lead a dynamic aquatics team, and help young people build confidence, resilience, and lifelong skills in and around the water.

 What You’ll Be Responsible For

 Lead Waterfront & Pool Operations

  • Oversee all aquatic programming, including swimming, boating, canoeing, and waterfront activities
  • Ensure all operations meet Girl Scouts, ACA, and NYS Department of Health standards
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging environment for campers and staff

 Train & Develop Aquatics Staff

  • Conduct pre-camp waterfront training sessions
  • Mentor and support lifeguards and waterfront staff throughout the season
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and positive leadership practices

 Teach & Evaluate Campers

  • Conduct swim assessments and placement evaluations
  • Provide instruction in water safety and aquatic skills
  • Encourage campers to build confidence and independence in the water

 Maintain Equipment & Safety Standards

  • Monitor and maintain boats, canoes, docks, and lifesaving equipment
  • Coordinate repairs and ensure all equipment is safely operational
  • Maintain logs for certifications, water testing, inspections, and incidents

欄 Collaborate With Camp Leadership

  • Work closely with camp leadership to integrate aquatics into overall camp programming
  • Support a positive camp culture that prioritizes safety, inclusion, and fun

Qualifications We’re Looking For

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 summer seasons of waterfront experience
  • Previous experience working with youth, camps, or outdoor recreation programs preferred
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and positive camper relationships

 Required Certifications

One of the following:

  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
    OR
  • Lifeguard Training + Waterfront Lifeguard certification

Plus:

  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent)
  • Lifeguard Management certification with in-person testing

Candidates not currently WSI certified must be willing to complete aquatics management training.

 Physical & Outdoor Requirements

  • Ability to remain active and outdoors throughout the day
  • Comfortable working in varying summer weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry 15+ lbs
  • Ability to navigate uneven camp terrain
  • Comfortable spending extended time in and around water
